Soleil Plage at Vitrac, Dordogne
Soleil Plage enjoys a superb setting that is perfect for a family holiday, lying on the banks of the gently flowing Dordogne. It has two small beaches, both situated on one of the loveliest stretches of the river, which are favourite spots for both swimming and canoeing. The park itself offers you an excellent heated pool complex, with waterslides for the children and a Jacuzzi for you to laze in. And at the end of the day, you'll find that the excellent restaurant, which is just one of the amenities housed in converted Parigordin farm buildings, makes for a wonderful evening. You are also perfectly situated for visiting the famous sights here. Sarlat is only a short drive from the park and the beautiful riverside towns of La Roque-Gageac and Beynac are both accessible by road or river.
Lacanau 4 Sun at Lacanau Ocean, Gascony

Saint Avit Loisirs at Le Bugue, Dordogne
Set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside, St Avit Loisirs is one of the premier parks in the region and holds 5 red tents from the Michelin guide. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you'll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. The modern facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.

The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple water slide. There is a new water park planned, including indoor children's pool, spa, jacuzzi and Turkish bath. Close by you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, centred around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight and the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.

Ciboure at Ciboure, Gascony
Sheltered in the calmer waters of the St Jean de Luz bay, the water sports and activities here are a degree or two more chilled out than at the larger resorts to the north. Ciboure offers all the exhilaration for those who like to take the air, or even take to the waters, in relative peace and tranquillity. On land the accent is on quiet enjoyment, Ciboure is calm compared to its busy fishing port neighbour of Saint Jean-de-Luz, but there is still plenty to keep you busy.
