There's also a superb outdoor pool with waterslide, as well as an indoor pool and a fountain that children always seem to love. In the evening, you can have a relaxing drink in the bar, which is also the scene of regular family discos in high season, or perhaps enjoy a meal in the equally pleasant restaurant. There are several shops not too far from the park, including a well-stocked supermarket, which is open from June onwards.
Camping le Ruisseau at Biarritz, Gascony
Camping le Ruisseau is a well equipped, top quality family run site. Situated in the Basque country and close to the sea, the majestic peaks of the Pyrenees rise in the distance. The pitches here are set in shady oak land and the site boasts its own lake, which is ideal for a quiet spot of carp fishing. The fantastic pool complex incorporates waterslides, a jacuzzi, sauna and an expansive sun terrace. Sports opportunities are plentiful take to the tennis courts or the gymnasium, while young children will love the excellent play area and trampolines. In the evenings, entertainment is laid on during the height of the summer in the popular lively bar and on the terrace. The site lies close to a motorway but traffic noise is minimal.

Look out to sea, and count the white sails in the bay of Cannes. Domaine de Massereau has a great countryside view amongst the vines of the famous Massereau estate ideally situated for exploring the many attractions of the Languedoc region. The park owners provide a warm and friendly welcome and the site has a quiet rural France feel. Set in the heart of the Massereau estate of 40 hectares of vines, grown by the owner, the park has a swimming pool with slides, a children's pool, trampoline, mini golf, running track, bike track, tennis, shop, playroom, bar and a restaurant offering grills done on a wood fire, pizzas around the swimming pool and take away snacks.

There is much to see here the Ile de Penotte, a picturesque old quarter in the town centre with pedestrian alleys and facades decorated with shells by a local artist, not to mention the La Chaume quarter, where the city originated, the fishermen's district, with the Place Sainte Anne and its magnificent trompe l'il fresco. And don't miss the delicious food market or fishing port where you can find fish at its freshest. The historical theme park, Le Grand Parc du Puy du Fou is also just 92km away. Located in the Vendee, a region famous for its long sandy beaches, close to Les Sables d'Olonne, Residence L'Estran is a hotel and residence located between the Puits d'Enfer, a deep cleft in the cliff into which the sea comes crashing at high tide, and the town centre. Just a 10 minute walk from St Julien-des-Landes, this park has a peaceful, rural setting in the parklands of a chateau. Catering for the whole family there is plenty of space for the children to play, and two pools set either side of the chateau. While the site is quiet in low season, this is a lively site in July and August that makes a great location for a family holiday. There are excellent facilities for the whole family here, including a large swimming pool (complete with shallow area for toddlers), plus a range of activities, including horse riding, bike hire and tennis. The pitches are partially shaded by tall trees, relax here with a good book, or enjoy a cooling drink at the bar terrace which overlooks the pool. As evening falls, enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant before watching the organised entertainment. Teenagers especially will enjoy the nightly disco.
Dormaine de Chalain at Lac de Chalain, Jura
Ideally situated on the banks of a fabulous natural lake and surrounded by the foothills of the Jura; Domaine de Chalain is a quite spectacular park. It features a fantastic pool complex with waterslides, children's pool, jacuzzi and heated indoor pool. A wide range of sporting activities are available, although some may not be available until July. You have free access to the pool however there is a credit system in operation, please ask at time of booking.
