Camping les Granges at Grolejac, Dordogne
The oak beamed bar and excellent restaurant at Camping les Granges is housed in old ivy clad buildings; in total contrast to the superb modern pool complex with its swimming pools and three water chutes. The bar terrace, overlooking the pool, is an ideal spot for listening to live music in high season and for sipping one of the delicious cocktails on offer. The active can hire a bicycle or put on their boots to explore the many walking and cycling routes.
Moliets 4 Sun at Moliets et Maa, Gascony
The holiday village at Moliets has to be one of your first choices if you're looking for an active family holiday set in tranquil surroundings. At the forest's edge is Moliets-Plage, the 3km wide beach resort, developed sensitively, and with great charm. Moliets is a secluded little place, sheltered by the Landes pine forest, a perfect place for a stroll. The region is just one huge, open-air deli with its foie gras, conserves and pates. There are four swimming pools, an array of sports to try, and all surrounded by the enchanting, forested coastline of southwest France.
La Palombiere at Sarlat, Dordogne
This well maintained park is set in rolling hills in unspoilt countryside this is a highly rated park by visitors. The shop, bar and restaurant are converted form lovely old farm buildings. The pretty bar terrace overlooks the swimming pool area, waterslides, tennis court, and spacious play area. Much of the accommodation can be found on pitches shaded by mature oak trees.
Le Val de Durance at Cadenet, Riviera
Le Val de Durance is situated in the relaxing surroundings of the Luberon National Park in Provence. There is plent of countryisde for you to explore on this 9 acre site of lush woodland and private lake with a supervised sandy beach. The holiday park has a great pool complex with a new twisting water slide to the larger swimming pool and paddling pool. Le Val de Durance is a friendly park with childrens facilities such as a games room and playground with other useful amenities including a small shop and snack bar/ takeaway. For those looking for an active holiday, beyond the park there is lots of great cycling and hiking routes in the Natural Park.
Sol a Gogo at St Hilaire, Vendee
The Camping Sol-a -Gogo is a well kept park with direct access to a superb beach. Just a short stroll from the resort of Les Mouettes, the park has a fantastic swimming pool complex with water chutes, waterslides and a covered pool. In high summer the park entertainers organise a range of family activities including regular discos in the bar. Some noise may be heard from the local road. The park is close to the lively resorts of St Hilaire and St Jean de Monts.
Les Chateau des Marais at Chambord, Loire Valley
With spacious grounds set in peaceful wooded surroundings, this is an ideal venue for families with young children. The park has excellent facilities including a great pool complex with waterslides, a lazy river, a covered pool and a spacious sun terrace. An indoor spa, jaccuzi and Turkish bath with massage are available. The restaurant, take-away and shop have all been built of local oak to blend in with the surroundings. Some noise may be heard from the nearby road. The site is a five minute walk from the village of Muides-sur-Loire.

The focal point is the outstanding watermark with jacuzzi, waterslides, water chute and lazy-river as well as spacious sun terraces and a new modern bar just been added. A short stroll takes you to a beautiful sandy beach or you can explore the woods and dunes along the coast. This site is three quarters of a mile from Merlin Plage, and four miles from St Jean-de-Monts.
Saint Avit Loisirs at Le Bugue, Dordogne
Set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside, St Avit Loisirs is one of the premier parks in the region and holds 5 red tents from the Michelin guide. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you'll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. The modern facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.
Sylvamar at Labenne Ocean, Gascony
Camping Sylvamar is part of the Yelloh! Village chain of campsites. The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.
Camping de I' Atlantique at Fouesnant, Brittany
The bar and terrace at Camping de l'Atlantique overlook the pools allowing you to keep an eye on the youngsters as they whiz down the slides. The lively bar hosts a variety of entertainment in high season, including karaoke, magic shows and a weekly disco. Young children have a great time on site, exploring the fishing boat in the play area, or playing mini-golf on the Wizard of Oz course. Although lively in high season the site is much quieter in May and June making it ideal for young families. A path leads you through cool pine trees and over dunes to a fine sandy beach.

When you're seeking a really quiet and relaxing holiday, you'll find Le Port de Limeuil very much to your taste. It's a green and attractive little park, boasting countless trees and shrubs, as well as a swimming pool, children's pool and jacuzzi, not to mention lots of open space for children to play. Located at the meeting place of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers, it also gives you direct access to a riverside beach, where you can hire a canoe, swim or simply sunbathe the day away. Cap Esterel 3 Suns at St Raphael, Riviera
A rocky headland, carefully transformed into a patchwork of bright blue pools, lush green parkland and red-roofed holiday homes, that's Cap Esterel. Dramatic hills sweep down to a succession of emerald waters and sandy coves. Careful planning means that, away from the main artery in and out, there are plenty of traffic free spots to unwind and play. This site has been awarded a prestigious 4 red tents rating by Michelin. The terraced site has an unrivalled setting, high in the hills, with views towards the cliff-top village of Cantobre. The pitches are generally spacious with some offering fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. The facilities are housed in a beautifully converted mill and include a lovely oak beamed restaurant. The campsites excellent activity programme is extensive, with canyoning, rock-climbing, abseiling and horse riding. The area is excellent for mountain biking and there are organised river treks and walks which the whole family will enjoy.
L'Etang de la Breche at Saumur, Loire Valley
The first thing that will strike you about this superb parc is the wonderful space and openness of the grounds. There are simply acres and acres for you to relax in and for the children to run off their spare energy. The facilities are excellent, including an impressive pool complex with waterslides and a separate toddler pool. The family proprietors are your hosts in the attractive bar and restaurant, and their personal approach is much in evidence throughout. The location is ideal for exploring, with l'Etang de la Breche nearby as well as many outstanding chateaux.
Camping les Deux Fontaines at Raguenes, Brittany
Tranquil surroundings and temperate conditions, combined with exciting play areas make this site a favourite for lively young children. The bar and broad sun terrace overlook the excellent pool complex, including a lagoon-style pool, paddling pool with a fun octopus fountain for toddlers, plus a spiralling water chute, four lane waterslide and a brand new indoor pool for 2010.
