Le Ruisseau at Biarritz, Gascony
Beside a small lake, this family-run park is just four miles from the elegant town of Biarritz. The Pyrenees form a magnificent backdrop to this park, which has terraced hillside pitches set amongst oak trees. A great water complex includes a four-lane waterslide, as well as a covered pool across the road in a newer part of the campsite. There is also a spa, gym, sun bed and sauna. If you head to the beach then you will find it is great for body boarding and surfing. Of course you are also on the doorstep of Spain and Pyrernees for great days out.
Le Clarys Plage at St Jean Plage, Vendee
The pool complex covers all the bases with water slides; children's pool; jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool there is something for every one who likes water. For those who prefer the salty version the beach is a short walk and is great for jumping waves, body boarding or relaxing in the sun. There is an extensive programme of activities supplied by the Al Fresco children's club as well as the on site facilities including children's playground; tennis; table tennis and football/volleyball pitch. Off site there are plenty of things to keep you occupied with bike hire around the corner; Atlantic Toboggan water park a short drive away to the picturesque town of St Giles Croix De Vie; the wonderful promenade at St Jean de Monts with a fantastic long beach, cafes, bars and shops all within a short drive. A little further away you will find the zoo at Sables which is worth a visit.
Camping Le Capeyrou at Beynac-et-Cazenac, Dordogne
Kick off your flip-flops and dip your toes into the Dordogne River, or float around the heated swimming pool and gaze up at Beynac?s hill-top ch?teau. Or if you want to explore authentic Europe then the medieval town of Beynac, with its inviting bakeries and authentic restaurants along the narrow streets, is only a short stroll away. The atmosphere at Le Capeyrou is civilised and tranquil; the setting of the large spacious pitches, surrounded by hedgerows, is picturesque and relaxing. But there is lots of fun to be had to. Camping les Deux Fontaines at Raguenes, Brittany
Tranquil surroundings and temperate conditions, combined with exciting play areas make this site a favourite for lively young children. La Garangeoire at St Julien des Landes, Vendee
La Garangeoire is without a doubt one of the most prestigious members of the Castels chain. It offers you a breathtakingly beautiful setting amongst woods, meadows and lakes, yet still manages to be just a 15 minute drive from the superb Vendee beaches. The estate contains generous, mainly un-shaded pitches and you are welcome to explore a number of delightful well marked walks. There's just so much to do here, from tennis, which is free in early and late summer, to fishing and boating on the lake. La Sirene at Argeles-sur-Mer, Languedoc
La Sirene is located just north of Argeles-sur-Mer which is famed for its five mile stretch of golden sand. This is a large family park that has lots of activities to keep the whole family busy including a large tropical pool complex. Scuba diving lessons are available in the pool, windsurfing, tennis, mini golf and even a free bus service to the beach. As you would expect most evenings are often spent in the open air bar, which is also the venue for regular late night cabaret and karaoke throughout the season. While beyond the park, you will enjoy the spectacular Pyrenees that form the dramatic backdrop to the spacious, sandy beaches and the park itself.
Domaine de Drancourt at St Valery, Picardy
Domaine de Drancourt is a rural campsite, surrounded by extensive wooded countryside and fields. A long, tree-lined avenue leads you to the picturesque chateau, whose grounds provide an ideal setting for your holiday. The old stables have been carefully converted to house many of the excellent on-site facilities, including the popular French bistro style restaurant. Children will enjoy splashing around in the two pools, one of which is covered, or exploring the site pathways on a hired go-kart. The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.
L'Etang de la Breche at Saumur, Loire Valley
The first thing that will strike you about this superb parc is the wonderful space and openness of the grounds. There are simply acres and acres for you to relax in and for the children to run off their spare energy. The facilities are excellent, including an impressive pool complex with waterslides and a separate toddler pool. The family proprietors are your hosts in the attractive bar and restaurant, and their personal approach is much in evidence throughout. The location is ideal for exploring, with l'Etang de la Breche nearby as well as many outstanding chateaux.
