The Pyrenees form a magnificent backdrop to this park, which has terraced hillside pitches set amongst oak trees. A great water complex includes a four-lane waterslide, as well as a covered pool across the road in a newer part of the campsite. There is also a spa, gym, sun bed and sauna. If you head to the beach then you will find it is great for body boarding and surfing. Of course you are also on the doorstep of Spain and Pyrernees for great days out.

In a very popular family area, this excellent park is regarded as one of the best in the Vendee. It is located close to the beach, just a ten minute walk, and five miles south of the busy town of St Jean-de-Monts (which also has some great beaches). The focal point of this modern park is the swimming complex that has outdoor and indoor pools, heated pools, jacuzzi and slides/chutes. There is also an excellent children's play area, which along with the many activities makes this a popular family resort. The park runs entertainment throughout the season and there are many local restaurants close by.

This site is three quarters of a mile from Merlin Plage, and four miles from St Jean-de-Monts.

Club Farret is a part of the Yelloh Village chain of campsites. A family run park, it offers everything that you would wish for in a sun and sand holiday, with plenty to do for the whole family. Set close to a long stretch of golden sandy beach this is a lively site with some great facilities. A lagoon style pool complex is a real suntrap, surrounded as it is by palms and shrubs. Children are well catered for with their own separate pool and seven playgrounds. For older children and adults there are also a wide range of sports activities ranging from table tennis to archery. Le Farret benefits from direct access to a wonderful sandy Mediterranean beach and the site's excellent restaurant and pirate-themed bar facilities have more than enough to entertain you for the duration of your stay, however if you can tear yourself away from the park a short 500m walk will take you directly into Vias Plage with its lively bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Due to the undulating nature of the terrain on this park and the placement of some of the pitches on quite steep terraces, this park is not ideal for those with mobility problems.

Set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside, St Avit Loisirs is one of the premier parks in the region and holds 5 red tents from the Michelin guide. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you'll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. The modern facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.

Les Tours is an attractive park with a high standard of facilities and a great swimming pool complex and 'lazy river'. With good sized pitches laid out on a series of terraces and overlooking the gorgeous Lac de la Selves, its a lovely spot for boating and swimming. Beyond Les Tours itself, you will find that you are superbly placed between the Auvergne and the Lot Valley. The enchanting town of Espalion is just 32km south, with its 13th century red sandstone bridge and charmingly small riverside chateau making it well worth a visit.

Chateau des Ormes is for you if you like water with a fantastic outdoor wave pool; two outdoor swimming pools; a tropical outdoor pool with waterslides; an indoor pool complex with water slides, lazy river and jacuzzi baths as well as a children's splash pool. Should the children bore of the water there is a children's club run by Al Fresco for 4-12 year olds. There are so many outdoor activities available you will have to work hard to find time to relax. There is the A la carte restaurant to help with the relaxing as will as the pizzeria/take away, plus the evening entertainment with a regular program of events including a disco. Near by you will find boat trips to the Channel Islands and sailing from St Malo, the chateau and lake at Combourg is 6miles away. Further afield is Mont St Michel with its beautiful abbey and museum.

The first thing that will strike you about this superb parc is the wonderful space and openness of the grounds. There are simply acres and acres for you to relax in and for the children to run off their spare energy. The family proprietors are your hosts in the attractive bar and restaurant, and their personal approach is much in evidence throughout. The location is ideal for exploring, with l'Etang de la Breche nearby as well as many outstanding chateaux.
