Domaine des Ormes at Dol de Bretagne, Brittany
This Castels site has been transformed from a run down chateau. The old watermill is now the bar and the coach house and stables are now the golf club. The fabulous pool complex includes three pools and a superb water park with chutes beside the tree-lined fishing lake, and a new covered lagoon-style pool with wave pool. Our generous, grassy emplacements are scattered throughout the campsite and our Fairytale Cottages are set in a secluded woodland setting - ideal if you are looking for something a little different. Le Soleil de Landes at Lit et Mixe, Gascony
Le Soleil des Landes is just 7 km from one of the C?te d'Argent?s most lovely beaches and yet is situated in 24 acres of woodlands - it really does offer the best of both worlds! So you have the choice of spending your days taking part in water sports like surfing and sailing or exploring the forest by foot or horse - but then again you could just relax by the pool. Camping les Granges at Grolejac, Dordogne
The oak beamed bar and excellent restaurant at Camping les Granges is housed in old ivy clad buildings; in total contrast to the superb modern pool complex with its swimming pools and three water chutes. The bar terrace, overlooking the pool, is an ideal spot for listening to live music in high season and for sipping one of the delicious cocktails on offer. The active can hire a bicycle or put on their boots to explore the many walking and cycling routes.

A beautiful, pastel-painted town at the head of the French Riveria, Villefranche is a small town of only 8,000 inhabitants but, within its limits you'll discover a walled citadel, Gothic churches, and ancient harbour, all a delight. For a change of pace, the glamour and pulse of Monte Carlo is just a short drive away. Drive inland over rolling hills to St. Paul de Vence, a walled hill fort which dates back to the middle ages. Back in Villefranche, take your pick from a string of harbourside restaurants, offering decidedly Italian-influenced meals, each more inviting than the next.
Camping la Croix du Pont at Berny Riviere, Paris
This is a fantastic site to wander around; meet the birdlife along the riverside or the friendly ducklings in the grounds of the adjacent chateau. At the centre of the site there are two lakes for fishing and water sports, plus a small lake complete with a sandy beach. This flat site offers a playground for children along with fun trampolines. There are first class facilities, including a well run restaurant with a children's menu, high chairs and early eating times. Cala Gogo at St Cyprien, Languedoc
A pleasant French atmosphere awaits you at the Cala Gogo park. It is a spacious park which is ideal for a lively family holiday. The site has an attractive swimming pool complex which can even accommodate scuba-diving lessons in high season. For older children there is a games room on site and a regular disco. You can relax at the bar and eat in the excellent restaurant in the evenings. Cala Gogo is just 1.5 kilometres from St Cyprien and 26 kilometres south of Perpignan.
Chateau lez Eaux at St Pair-sur-Mer, Normandy
Located close to the main route down the Cherbourg peninsula, this is a quiet, friendly 'Castels' park with a versatile location. On the one hand it's a great place to simply relax while you soak up the atmosphere and enjoy its beautiful setting in the grounds of the manor house. At the same time, it's ideally placed for stopovers. But whatever you come for, you'll find it an absolute delight. There are excellent facilities here, which include a beautifully landscaped and recently remodelled, covered water park that's complete with slides and water chutes, great fun for all ages. Don't forget your fishing rod either, as you're welcome to try your luck on the little lake, free of charge. Ideal for young families, the friendly owners work extremely hard to make your stay here enjoyable.
Lacanau 4 Sun at Lacanau Ocean, Gascony
Aquitaine's soft and attractive countryside is all warm, wooded valleys and sun-dappled villages. At the coast, the pulse quickens slightly, with surfing, cycle tracks and swimming – in the sea, or the sheltered freshwater lake at Lacanau - on offer. You're never far from a vineyard here, too. Take a bottle back to your holiday home – a wood clad cottage or apartment near the relaxing pool. 14 kilometres of fine, golden sand means that, even in high season, Lacanau's beach has a generous amount of space to go around. Ocean, lake and forest combine to offer plenty of healthy, outdoor pursuits – whether you want to try kite surfing (hold on tight, or you could end up in America!), horse riding or golfing – and, in Lacanau, the gentler arts of shopping, eating and socialising are practised with equal enthusiasm. Within its core of pretty whitewashed, red-tiled buildings, Lacanau hosts a surprisingly vibrant array of casinos, nightclubs and bars to keep you active until the early hours.
Holiday Green at Frejus, Cote d'Azur
Holiday Green is a well maintained site with a large Californian pool complex which is great fun for all the family and includes a children's pool with water games. It also has a new covered heated pool, toboggans, solarium and Jacuzzi. To keep the kids happy, a whole range of activities are held throughout the season and there are aqua aerobics, water polo and water volleyball tournament and in July and August swimming lessons, fun water-skiing and even deep-sea diving instruction. The park has a restaurant, bar, supermarket, fitness room, tennis court, boules pitch, archery and mountain biking. There is also free evening entertainment and themed restaurant nights. Due to the undulating nature of the terrain on this park and the placement of some of the pitches on quite steep terraces, this park is not ideal for elderly customers or those with mobility problems.
Les Mouettes at Carantec, Brittany
Les Mouettes is situated near one of the most beautiful bays on the Breton coast. Carantec has a feeling of peace and spaciousness that makes it a popular choice with families. Mature trees and shrubs enhance the park area where most of the pitches are grassy and some are partly shaded but, there are also some large, sunny pitches. One of the main attractions is the impressive swimming pool complex overlooked by the bar terrace, where the children will enjoy floating along the lazy river surrounding the huge water chutes. They can also try their hand at the unusual 18-hole crazy-golf course, not forgetting the beach is just 1.5km away. The picturesque old port of Roscoff is near by and offers boat trips to the island of Batz.
Criques de Porteils at Collioure, Languedoc
Nestled on the rocky coves that typify this small corner of France, this terraced Castels park combines unique scenery with direct access to several small pebble beaches. If you fancy learning something new, the park offers scuba diving, so you can explore the beautiful coves and rock pools under the water. L'Ardechois at Vallon Pont D'Arc, Ardeche
L'Ardechois is a superbly well equipped park situated alongside one of the loveliest stretches of the Ardeche River. This makes it a perfect spot for swimming and canoeing, not to mention the excursions through the magnificent gorges that are such a popular part of the park's activities. Within the park itself, the impressive range of facilities include an attractive pool complex and a poolside bar. To keep the whole family amused, the park entertainment organise sports and fun from mid June, including weekly discos which are held in the open air or the bar. You are also just a short walk from Vallon Pont d'Arc, which is something of a focal point for tourists in this fascinating region.
La Sirene at Argeles-sur-Mer, Languedoc
La Sirene is located just north of Argeles-sur-Mer which is famed for its five mile stretch of golden sand. This is a large family park that has lots of activities to keep the whole family busy including a large tropical pool complex. Scuba diving lessons are available in the pool, windsurfing, tennis, mini golf and even a free bus service to the beach. As you would expect most evenings are often spent in the open air bar, which is also the venue for regular late night cabaret and karaoke throughout the season. While beyond the park, you will enjoy the spectacular Pyrenees that form the dramatic backdrop to the spacious, sandy beaches and the park itself.
Le Val de Durance at Cadenet, Riviera
Le Val de Durance is situated in the relaxing surroundings of the Luberon National Park in Provence. There is plent of countryisde for you to explore on this 9 acre site of lush woodland and private lake with a supervised sandy beach. The holiday park has a great pool complex with a new twisting water slide to the larger swimming pool and paddling pool. Le Val de Durance is a friendly park with childrens facilities such as a games room and playground with other useful amenities including a small shop and snack bar/ takeaway. Ty Nadan at Arzano, Brittany
A member of the 'Castels' group, Ty Nadan offers excellent facilities, not least of which are three outdoor pools, an indoor pool and spa with an impressive waterslide and twisting water chute. With an indoor complex for badminton and rock climbing this park is perfect for active families, with evening entertainment for everyone organised throughout the season. Its wooded parkland setting is ideal for exploring on foot or on horseback and more energetic activities such as river canoeing, sea kayaking and guided mountain bike tours are also available. Despite these varied activities it's still a relaxing setting. In fact, in early and late summer the park is especially suited to those wanting a quiet holiday with small children and having direct access to the sandy banks of the river Elle it really comes into its own.
Camping la Foret at St Jean de Monts, Vendee
With a friendly atmosphere and good facilities, Camping la Foret is popular holiday park. The pool area has a lovely sunbathing terrace and is the ideal place to laze in the sun while the children enjoy the heated pools.
