Cap Esterel 3 Suns at St Raphael, Riviera

From pony riding to flying trapeze lessons, you'll have no excuse to laze around. Well, not all the time.

Yelloh Village la Foret at St Julien, Vendee

Yelloh! Village la For?t, tucked away from the bustle of Les Sables d?Olonne amidst rolling meadowland, is a small site set in the grounds of a ch?teau. The campsite facilities are set in converted buildings in the courtyard ? the bar is housed in the old stables, while the restaurant with open fire and oak-beamed ceiling is in an ivy-clad outhouse. Head through the stone archway into the ch?teau gardens and to the two covered pools beyond. Here you?ll find plenty of space to relax, plus a fun water slide for the children. There is also a football pitch, badminton court and playground. Keen fishermen can unwind in peace at one of the three lakes, settling down for a spot of carp and roach fishing in idyllic surroundings.

This park is defiantly for you if you enjoy activities as there is so much to do there will be little time for sitting and relaxing. There are however 2 bars and a restaurant as well as plenty of space to sit around the pool if you want a break from all the excitement. The children have a play area; club with organised activities and even their own disco. Park run sports tournaments; basketball; badminton; climbing wall and archery will give the older children something to think about and a 16+ disco just for good measure. There are family discos during July and August. Sightseeing has not been left from the list of things connected with this busy park with Cannes only 16 miles; St Tropez 22 miles and Nice 40 miles.

Chateau des Marais at Chambord, Loire Valley

Chateau des Marais is a Michelin awarded three red tent site and it enjoys a lovely position close to the river Loire and the stunning Chateau de Chambord. The grassy pitches are shaded by mature trees, with plenty of space for children to run around. Families with young children will particularly enjoy this peaceful setting. The pool complex will be popular with children of all ages; it includes a covered pool, a lagoon pool, lazy river and waterslides. The popular bar and restaurant make an excellent place for a family meal or cooling drink.

This park offers a well equipped pool complex with an indoor and heated outdoor pool; jacuzzi; 2 waterslides and small slides for the little ones. If that is not enough there are multiple playgrounds with trampolines and go-karts; mini golf; tennis and table tennis and also archery (open from 1st May). The restaurant offers meals for those days when you do not want to cook or alternatively try the pizzeria. On site is a supermarket and separate bakery offering freshly baked bread daily. There is a weekly coach excursion to Disneyland Resort Paris, but it is about an hour's drive if you prefer to go in your own time. Compiegne is 15 miles away and Soissons is 11 miles; the sleepy village of Pierrefonds with a fairytale castle is only 9 miles away.

The excellent facilities, located away from our accommodation, include a lagoon style watermark complete with waterslides and lazy river, overlooked by the modern restaurant and bar terrace. It is just a fifteen minute walk or cycle to the fine sandy beaches of this area, and water sports facilities are widely available. Whilst there is plenty to do at this well-maintained campsite, the Les Landes forest is perfect for cyclists. Campsite rules are strictly enforced for the benefit and comfort of all guests. The facilities on this park are second to none, especially the superb aquatic area with its three pools, lazy river and triple waterslide. About 900m away, you can learn to surf and body board in the spectacular Atlantic waves. There are dozens of activities for kids of all ages, as well as entertainment, cantered around the bar-restaurant every night in high season, with the promise that all will be quiet after midnight. And the park owner is keen for all rules to be respected for the benefit and comfort of all guests. Beyond the park, Labenne offers endless forest roads and cycle paths; while the town itself has a splendid outdoor market, two petting zoos, as well as the lovely Marais d'Orx nature park.

Parc de Fierbois at Tours, Loire Valley

Le Parc de Fierbois offers a host of activities, many of which take place in and around the park's central square. Away from the square you will find an impressive modern poolside bar complex to please all the family, with entertainment in high season. The estate also features a charming lake where you can hire pedalos and canoes in high season, or simply enjoy a stroll around it. The many possibilities for days out include a wide choice of nearby chateaux, and of course the vineyards of Chinon and Vouvray. The town of Tours, perfect for shopping and sightseeing is close by.

Enjoying a peaceful location in the grounds of a lovely old manor house, the park has been developed by the friendly owners to a very high standard, with excellent facilities, especially for young families. The superb pool complex has two pools, one with a lazy river, toboggans and a retractable roof over one of the pools. There is an indoor Spa and Jacuzzi with a Hammam (Turkish bath) and massage available. The park is extremely pretty, in a lovely setting close to a small village and is also perfectly placed for sightseeing. The Loire River is just a short distance away, with opportunities for canoeing and fishing. Most importantly, the Loire is most famous for its many chateaux, two of which, Chambord and Blois, are close to hand.

Interlude at Ile de Re, Vendee

This park is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from it all. The pool complex has something for everyone including indoor and outdoor pool areas, as well as a shallow area for toddlers. A short walk from the park is a fantastic beach; the island is surrounded by brilliant beaches perfect for swimming and wind surfing. For those who want to explore there are many cycle paths around the island, or Ile de Re can be reached via a toll bridge. This large, lively park has a Californian-style pool complex that includes a covered pool and tropical palm tree islands. There is also a completely separate and beautifully designed lagoon pool with still more slides, providing wonderful facilities for all. The park's first class facilities also include two bars, restaurant and tennis courts, play area, take-away and fitness room. There are plenty of lovely beaches nearby and come the evening you can choose between live entertainment or dancing the night away in the park's own disco. It really is a site to suit everyone, with a full and varied entertainment programme and a lively disco. The Roman town of Frajus is 4km away, with its broad sandy beach, bars and restaurants. Traffic from the nearby motorway can be heard.

Moliets 4 Sun at Moliets et Maa, Gascony

La Sirene is located just north of Argeles-sur-Mer which is famed for its five mile stretch of golden sand. This is a large family park that has lots of activities to keep the whole family busy including a large tropical pool complex. Scuba diving lessons are available in the pool, windsurfing, tennis, mini golf and even a free bus service to the beach. As you would expect most evenings are often spent in the open air bar, which is also the venue for regular late night cabaret and karaoke throughout the season. While beyond the park, you will enjoy the spectacular Pyrenees that form the dramatic backdrop to the spacious, sandy beaches and the park itself.

Holiday Green at Frejus, Cote d'Azur

The huge Californian pool complex is great fun for all the family and includes a children's pool with water games, and a covered heated pool, toboggans, solarium and jacuzzi. Throughout the season there are aqua aerobics, water polo and water volleyball tournament and in July and August swimming lessons, fun waterskiing and even deep-sea diving instruction. The park has a restaurant, bar, supermarket, fitness room, tennis court, boules pitch, archery and mountain biking. There is also free evening entertainment and themed restaurant nights. Due to the undulating nature of the terrain on this park and the placement of some of the pitches on quite steep terraces, this park is not ideal for those with mobility problems.

Les Genets at St Jean Plage, Vendee

The focal point is the outstanding watermark with jacuzzi, waterslides, water chute and lazy-river as well as spacious sun terraces and a new modern bar just been added. A short stroll takes you to a beautiful sandy beach or you can explore the woods and dunes along the coast. This site is three quarters of a mile from Merlin Plage, and four miles from St Jean-de-Monts.

Run by enthusiastic owners, the park offers a wide range of organised children's activities, sports tournaments, bicycle tours and walks. It also features a lovely pool with some shade and a great waterslide. Its greatest attraction though is the choice of two safe sandy beaches, both just a short, safe stroll away. There is also an excellent bar, restaurant, and crêperie, from which you can watch the children playing on the beach, or look out further to the bright sails of the windsurfers beyond. See it just once and you'll understand why Brittany's soft, sandy beaches are such a popular destination for families.

Le Ranc Davaine at St Alban, Ardeche

At St. Alban there are two inviting swimming pools and a children's pool, with a covered pool complex, as well as tennis and mini-golf, plus activities like archery and horse riding in high season. Canoeing on the lovely River Chassezac close by is an added bonus. And at the end of the day, you can also relax over a drink in the pleasant bar. St. Alban is a lightly shaded park that enjoys a stunning setting and offers plenty to do for even the most active of families. The park becomes lively in high season too, with a full programme of entertainment that includes cabarets and a disco. Out and about, you will find Barjac and Balazuc well worth a visit.

Saint Avit Loisirs at Le Bugue, Dordogne

During the day, there is a busy kids club, while most evenings are filled with lively entertainment for all. Yet despite all this, it's also a wonderful place to simply relax.
